CANAL WINCHESTER, Ohio – The Capital University women's golf team hit the links on Monday for a head-to-head matchup with rivals Otterbein at West Chester Golf Club. The second edition of the Battle for the Oar – played with a scoring style similar to that of the Ryder Cup – would go in favor of the Cardinals, 4-0.
Hannah Frey and
Mariah Cotsamire both lost their head-to-head matchups by four with three holes remaining. The other two matchups which included
Avery Fish and
Abby Crisler from Capital were lost by seven with six holes remaining.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"So proud of our girls today, that was an awesome fight and an unreal effort," said coach
Andy Garcia. "Otterbein has one of the best teams in the country and for us to hang in there deep into the match at the number one and two spots is a great sign for us moving forward. Lots of heart in this group, they fought until the very end and it's a great representation of our team that we will never give up."

Capital celebrated the career of senior
Reagan Johnson at the match. She did not play in the match due to injury.
