Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's tennis team ventured to Marietta College on Wednesday afternoon, playing their previously postponed OAC contest. There, the Comets emerged with a hard-fought 6-3 victory over the Pioneers.
Capital moves ahead to 7-3 overall and 1-1 in the OAC this season.
DOUBLES
The Comets got ahead in doubles action, winning two of the three match-ups. At number one,
Spencer Surles and
Brady Wink won an impressive match over Evan Barker and Elijah Kuhl, 8-4. At third doubles,
Thomas Secrist and
Alex Rowley cruised past George Fazah and David Frazier, 8-1.
The number two pairing of
Jackson Havel and
Colin Welch fought hard, but fell 8-6 against Spencer Hall and Elvih Perez.
SINGLES
The Comets did what they needed to do in singles play, winning four points to take the match 6-3 overall. Wins for Capital came from
Thomas Secrist,
Spencer Surles,
Jackson Havel and
Brady Wink.
At the number one spot, Secrist downed Elvih Perez 6-2, 6-2. At number two, Surles emerged from a super tiebreaker set, defeating Elijah Kuhl 3-6, 6-3, 10-5. Havel down David Frazier at number five singles 6-0, 6-1 and Wink defeated George Fazah at the #6 spot, 6-1, 6-0.
Jesse Stevens fell to Evan Barker at #3, 5-7, 2-6 and
Colin Welch lost to Spencer Hall at #4, 4-6, 3-6.
