MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team swept Mount Vernon Nazarene on Thursday, winning 5-0 in a match that was called early due to rain.

The Comets started off strong, taking all three doubles matches and putting a point on the board. The duos of Anna Fletcher/Nicole Flock and Annika Hansen/Rachel Smith won first and second doubles by scores of 6-2. The pair of Ashlyn Edwards and Amy Wright-Lovell shutout MVNU in their third doubles match, 6-0.

CU scored another sweep in the four singles matches that were able to finish before the rain set in. This gave Capital five points and the victory. Fletcher and Flock both went into tiebreaks in first and second singles. Fletcher went 6-3, 2-6 and won 11-9 while Flock went 6-2, 2-6 and won 10-7. Hansen and Smith were the other two to get their games in, with Hansen winning 6-2, 6-2 and Smith winning 6-2, 6-1.
