Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought match with Allegheny College on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 7-2.
The loss pins Capital back to 2-2 through the fall season thus far.
Doubles play is where Capital did their damage, taking two of the three available points in the discipline. At first doubles, the pairing of
Anna Fletcher and
Nicole Flock emerged winners 8-5. A similar score came in from
Amy Wright-Lovell and
Jenny Rollins at third doubles as they also won their match 8-5.
Abigail Hornacek and
Rachel Smith were upended at #2 by an 8-1 score.
In singles play, the Gators took all six points.
Anna Fletcher fell at #1 with a 7-5, 6-0 score. Nicole FLock dropped #2 in a third set tiebreaker via a score of 6-1, 4-6, 10-6.
Abigail Hornacek defaulted midway through her second set, giving Allegheny that point.
Amy Wright-Lovell fell in fourth singles 6-1, 6-2.
Kylee Fliter lost #5 6-0, 6-1. And
Ella McGlynn dropped sixth singles 6-0, 6-2.
The Comets also saw exhibition singles matches for
Rachel Smith,
Courtney Carpenter and
Ashlyn Edwards.
Capital has one more fall match on their schedule for this season as they will play host to Mount Vernon Nazarene on Thursday, September 22nd. That match will commence at 4:30 p.m. at Whetstone Park of Roses.
