Alexa Poling Has Big Hammer Throw to Lead Track at Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio – The Capital University track and field teams were in action at the Ashland Alumni Open, hosted by Ashland University on Saturday afternoon. There, the Comets put forth several good performances, but none better than Alexa Poling's hammer throw effort that moves her up to second-best in program history.

Below is a summary of the top performances of the day:
Women's Hammer Throw: Alexa Poling registered a throw of 46.39 meters on her second attempt, good to place her 10th overall in a very deep field consisting of several D1 and D2 athletes. Poling's heave was good enough to make her the highest D3 finisher in the event, and to move her from fourth all-time up to second in Capital history. Assuming no other throwers in the conference beat her mark today, the throw was good enough to sit her fourth in the OAC right now.
