WAVERLY, Iowa – The Capital University track team sent a small contingent of athletes to the Wartburg Final Qualifier in Waverly, Iowa this weekend where the team competed in five events, bidding for one last chance at qualifying for the NCAA Championships next weekend.
Below is a summary of the team's performances from the event.
MEN
Distance Medley Relay (Friday): The quartet of
Chip Smith,
Neko Henry,
Justin Rona and
Kolin Brake ran a time of 10:30.25.
One Mile:
Kolin Brake clocked in a time of 4:24.21, while
Chip Smith finished in a time of 4:36.61.
400-meter dash:
Neko Henry placed seventh in a time of 50.59 seconds.
200-meter dash:
Mershaud Parker would finish in eight with a time of 22.28.
WOMEN
200-meter dash: Finishing in second for Capital was
Kaylee Jackson, as the freshman recorded a time of 25.42 seconds.
UP NEXT
Capital will now await the final announcements for the NCAA qualifiers. Should anyone qualify, the National meet will take place in Birmingham, Alabama on March 13th and 14th. However, if the team does not compete at Nationals, the team will next be in action on the outdoor track on March 28th at Denison's Lid Lifter.
