Box Score MARIETTA, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team traveled to southeast Ohio on Wednesday for a matchup with Marietta, ultimately downing the Pioneers 9-0.
Capital racked up three quick points in the doubles matches. The Comet combo of
Kelli Wright-Lovell and
Anna Fletcher got the ball rolling with an 8-3 win.
Josie Nichols and
Amy Wright-Lovell followed suit with an 8-2 win. Finally,
Nicole Flock and
Hayley Singleton sealed the deal with another 8-2 victory.
On the singles side of things, the Comets were led by
Nicole Flock in two straight 6-0 decisions.
Kelli Wright-Lovell gained the team a point by winning in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-0.
Hayley Singleton won in similar fashion, 6-1 and 6-0. Abby Hornack was the fourth Comet to win in straight sets, gaining a positive advantage 6-0 and 6-1. The closest match was played by
Karen Kanke who overcame her opponent 7-5 in the first game and 6-4 in the second.
Anna Fletcher won her match by default.
With the win, the Comets move to 5-7 on the season and 3-3 in conference play.

Capital will finish off the regular season with a road match in Berea against Baldwin Wallace. That matchup with the Yellow Jackets will take place on Saturday, April 30.
