TIFFIN, Ohio – Despite a windy and blustery day, the Capital University track and field teams put forth a quality day full of five All-Time Top-10 performances and numerous personal bests at the Tiffin Track Carnival.
With the wind being inconsistent throughout the day, some times and marks qualified for the program all-time list, while others simply became personal bests for the respective student-athletes. Additionally, the event featured numerous Division I and II programs along with the several D-III programs.
Cracking – or bettering their positioning – on the top-10 list were
Andy Fullmer in the decathlon and the javelin,
Donovan Slattery in the 3,000 steeplechase,
Anya Vanasdale in the 5,000 meter run, and
Alexa Poling in the hammer throw.
Below are a summary of the top performances from the event:
Men's Decathlon:
Andy Fullmer finished third overall in the decathlon with 5,698 points, a mark that improves his fourth best all-time record. His previous best was 5,322 points. Highlighting Fullmer's performance yesterday was his second place finish in the high jump with a measure of 1.86 meters. More impressive was his win in the javelin toss that registered 50.50 meters, moving him up to fifth all-time. His previous best was 41.25 meters and his new mark leads the OAC by three meters at this moment.
Men's 3,000 Meter Steeplechase:
Donovan Slattery ran the event in a time of 10:00.98, finishing him sixth overall. His time improves his grasp to sixth all-time in Capital history. His previous best was 10:12.50.
Women's Hammer Throw:
Alexa Poling threw the Hammer a distance of 44.32 meters – a mark that moves her from seventh to third all-time in Capital history. She was the fifth highest D-III finisher in the field.
Women's 5,000 Meter Run:
Anya Vanasdale finished 11th overall in the 5K with a time of 18:18.72. The time allows her to leapfrog Hannah Westhoven for third all-time in the event. Previously, Vanasdale clocked a time of 18:32.25.
Men's 100 Meter Dash:
Daniel Hiser and
Ishmael Young were once again lock-step in the sprints, as Hiser took 26th with a time of 11.05 seconds and Young was 30th with a time of 11.12 seconds.
Brandon Rex also competed, running a time of 12.03 seconds.
Women's 100 Meter Dash:
Larissa Agbor-Nkongho led a quarter of Comets in the event with a time of 13.24 seconds.
Cece Samuels was next with 13.35 seconds, followed by
Natashia Amoako with a time of 13.62 seconds.
Hanna Bauer rounded it up with a time of 13.71 seconds.
Men's 200 Meter Dash: Hiser and Young were once again locked up, this time with Young taking the faster time. Young was 33rd with a time of 22.78 seconds, while Hiser was just a tenth of a second back with a time of 22.88 seconds. Rex clocked a time of 25.15 seconds, while
Nick Stuck recorded a time of 25.52 seconds.
Women's 200 Meter Dash: Agbor-Nkongho once again paced the four Capital sprinters in the mid sprint. She clocked a time of 26.95 seconds. Bauer was next with a time of 28.70 seconds, followed by
Olivia Humes with a 29.50 second time. Rounding it up was Amoako with a 29.56 second time.
Men's 800 Meter Run:
Bobby Cole led a trio of Comets in the 800 run, with a time of 2:13.05.
Jason McColl ran a 2:14.87 time, while
Aidan Cunningham rounded it out with a 2:17.58.
Women's 800 Meter Run:
Alexa Daley finished 14th with a time of 2:27.76.
Allison Costanzo was next with a time of 2:37.17.
Elizabeth Mak was next with a time of 2:47.88, followed by
Grace Lockard with a time of 2:52.15.
Men's 1500 Meter Run:
Sam Siedel finished with a time of 4:35.62.
Women's 4x100 Relay: Bauer, Samuels,
Kaya Milby, and Agbor-Nkongho teamed up to finish ninth overall with a time of 51.39 seconds.
Men's Pole Vault:
Zion Park finished in a tie for sixth with his best vault registering 4.22 meters.
Women's Pole Vault:
Bella McCarty placed 18th with her highest clearance marking 2.85 meters.
Men's Long Jump: Hiser placed 16th with a jump of 6.46 meters. Dan McCormack was next for Capital with a leap of 6.36 meters.
Women's Long Jump: Four Comets competed for the women, finishing in this order –
Olivia Humes (4.79m),
Cece Samuels (4.64m),
Kaya Milby (4.48m),
Hanna Bauer (4.19m).
Men's Shot Put:
Hayden Shaffer threw a mark of 12.83 meters, while
Jonathan Kirk was next with a 12.71 meter throw.
Women's Shot Put:
Grace Heckenlively threw her furthest mark at 10.99 meters.
Alexa Poling was next with a toss of 10.36 meters, and was followed by Deivon McCullough who tossed the shot 8.40 meters.
Men's Discus: Shaffer threw the disc 40.05 meters, while Kirk registered his best throw at 34.97 meters.
Women's Discus: Heckenlively threw her best mark at 30.68 meters, followed by McCullough at 21.58 meters.
