Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – On Wednesday afternoon, the Capital University women's tennis team squared up with the University of Pikeville and was dropped by a score of 9-0.
The Comets – now 3-6 overall – were right in every match and just had a few points not go their way. All-in-all, Capital played some solid tennis against a very talented NAIA roster on UPIKE's team.
In doubles action,
Kelli Wright-Lovell and
Amy Wright-Lovell teamed up at number one, falling 8-0. Another 8-0 score went the way of the visiting Bears as
Abigail Hornacek and
Josie Nichols dropped their second doubles match-up. Rounding out the double competition,
Karen Kanke and
Hayley Singleton took a few games, but in the end fell 8-3 at the #3 spot.
Again, the Comets were knocked off in consecutive sets in all six singles spots. Leading off was
Kelli Wright-Lovell at #1, falling 6-2, 6-0. Her sister, Amy took to #2 singles and fell 6-0, 6-0.
Kylee Fliter then played third singles and dropped her match-up 6-0, 6-0 as well. In fourth singles action,
Josie Nichols lost her bout 6-3, 6-1. Singleton dropped #5 singles in straight 6-1 sets, while Kanke rounded out the action falling 6-1, 6-0.
The Comets will take to the court next as they look to wrap up the conference regular season with four more matches. First up is a road-trip to John Carroll on April 22nd.
