JOIN THE FIGHT AGAINST OVARIAN CANCER
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- On Friday, April 1st at 7 p.m., Capital University men's tennis will host John Carroll University for a special match.
Playing on the unusual Friday evening, Capital plans to host this match as an Ovarian Cancer Awareness Match. The match will also serve in honor of Debra "Debbie" Lynn Hurley – the mother of current Capital head coach
Cody Hurley – who passed away from ovarian cancer on April 1, 2015. A small ceremony prior to the match will take place to honor the life of Debbie Hurley.
Capital is hosting the Blue Streaks at Tennis Ohio, located on W. Henderson Road, which is about 15 minutes from campus. The facility was previously used as the Ohio State University Varsity Tennis Center and now notoriously hosts several large scale tennis events.
To help bring attention to ovarian cancer, coach Hurley has arranged for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition and the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Ohio to be in attendance to promote awareness and raise donations to support research benefiting those battling the disease.
Both teams will wear accents that contain the color teal, the official color of ovarian cancer awareness.
In support of Ovarian Cancer Awareness, coach Hurley and the Comets tennis program hopes to see many people in attendance at the match and to help raise donations toward the cause. All who attend are encouraged to wear teal in support.
Anyone unable to attend the match, but would still like to contribute to support Ovarian Cancer Research can do so by visiting the donation page here:
