Track and Field Concludes Competition at OAC Championships

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Zion Park's All-OAC finish in the Pole Vault proved to be the highlight, but only scraped the surface of several high quality performances from the Capital University track and field teams at the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Championships this weekend.

In addition to Park's All-Conference jump in the pole vault, Capital saw numerous athletes crack the program All-Time lists and one who improved their mark on the lists.

Today proved to be a first-time experience for many of the Comets. First year head coach, BT Pham mentioned, "This weekend went very well for us and we are proud of how our team competed."

As a team though, the Capital women placed 10th and the men finished seventh.

Below is a summary of the top performances from Day Two:
Women's 200 Meter Dash: Larissa Agbor-Nkongho sprinted her way to 13th place finish with a time of 27.31 seconds. Her time was good enough to move her into ninth on the All-Time List at Capital.

Women's 3,000 Meter Run: Anya Vanasdale ran a time of 10:52.71 that was good to place her 10th overall, but even better to move her up a spot on the Top-10 list at Capital. Previously, she sat fifth with a time of 10:58.

Women's 4x200 Meter Relay: The quartet of Cece Samuels, Hanna Bauer, Olivia Humes, and Larissa Agbor-Nkongho raced their way to seventh overall, claiming two team points. The group ran a time of 1:52.74.

Women's 4x400 Meter Relay: Bauer, Alexa Daley, Humes, and Agbor-Nkongho also teamed up to finish sixth overall. Their time registered 4:29.00.

Women's Shot Put: Alexa Poling placed eighth in the shot put, with her best throw marking 11.34 meters.

Men's 60 Meter Hurdles: Kelly Wilson II finished seventh in the hurdles event, nearly matching his prelim qualifying time, as he clocked a time of 8.65 seconds in the finals.

Men's 4x200 Meter Relay: The group of Ishmael Young, Daniel McCormack, Andy Fullmer, and Daniel Hiser finished fifth with a time of 1:33.81.

Men's 4x400 Meter Relay: The same quartet of Young, Hiser, Fullmer, and McCormack ran the 4x400 meter relay as well, finishing seventh in a fashion of 3:53.42.

Men's High Jump: Andy Fullmer claimed a point in the high jump as his best leap measured 1.85 meters. His jump was a new personal best in the event.

Below is a summary of Day One's performances:
Women's Weight Throw: Alexa Poling placed eighth overall, claiming one team point. Poling's best throw registered 13.68 meters.

Women's Pole Vault: Bella McCarty cleared the bar at 2.92 meters, marking her personal best at an indoor venue and just .01 meters off her career best.

Men's Pole Vault: Zion Park vaulted his way to third overall and an All-OAC finish, earning six team points as well. Park's best jump marked 4.39 meters -- a new indoor personal best.

Men's 60 Meter Hurdles: Kelly Wilson II qualified for the finals, clocking the seventh best time in prelims. His time registered 8.64 seconds -- just .04 seconds off his school record. Andy Fullmer also competed in the event, finishing 12th overall with a time of 8.88 seconds. The time was good enough to move Fullmer up to fourth on the All-Time list in the event.

Men's Long Jump: Four Comets competed in the long jump, with two of them earning point scoring finishes. Daniel McCormack placed sixth overall with a leap of 6.60 meters. The mark sits him as the seventh best long jump in Capital history. Daniel Hiser was right on McCormack's heels as he placed seventh with a top jump registering 6.55 meters. Andy Fullmer's best jump of 6.30 meters placed him ninth, while Ethan Barton jumped a mark of 5.85 meters to place 20th.

UP NEXT
Capital will send a group of athletes to the Polar Bear Final Qualifier to be held at Ohio Northern on March 4th and 5th. There, the Comets will be aiming to improve any times and scores in hopes of reaching the National Championships.
