SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Capital University track and field team sent a group of five athletes to the Wittenberg Invitational on Saturday afternoon in search of improving qualifying marks for the upcoming championship series of meets.

Competing today included Daniel Hiser, Ishmael Young, Larissa Agbor-Nkongho, Alexa Daley, and Donovan Slattery

The Comet coaching staff was excited and encouraged by this weekend's performances, both last night at the Findlay's Flag City Open and today at the Wittenberg Invitational. Head coach BT Pham said it best, "We're ready for the OAC meet this coming weekend!"

Below is a summary of the group competing today:
Men's 200 Meter Dash: After cracking the top-10 list in the 200 meter dash last night at Findlay, Daniel Hiser and Ishmael Young both improved their times and moved up to fifth and sixth in Cap history in the event. Hiser ran a time of 22.95 seconds, while Young clocked a time of 23.06 seconds.

Women's 200 Meter Dash: Larissa Agbor-Nkongho ran a new personal best and the fastest time for any Cap woman this season in the 200 meter dash. Her time of 27.58 seconds was good enough to place her eighth overall, and just .05 seconds off the 10th fastest time in program history – a mark set by recent Hall of Fame inductee, Lizzy Stanton.

Women's 800 Meter Run: Among the very fast group of runners, Alexa Daley placed 23rd overall with a time of 2:28.03 – a time good enough for the seventh fastest 800 time in program history.

Men's 1,000 Meter Run: Donovan Slattery put down a time of 2:37.09 to place seventh overall in the event. More impressively, the time registers as the third fastest 1,000 meter run in Capital history. Slattery now sits on the top-10 list for three distance runs. He is third in the 1,000, sixth in the mile, and ninth in the 3,000.
