FINDLAY, Ohio – Competing up at the University of Findlay for the second time this indoor season, the Capital University track and field teams were in action on Friday evening at the Flag City Open.
The Comets once again competed amongst a heavyweight field of competition as they ran against several nationally ranked Division II teams, smaller Division I teams, and some high-powered D-III competitors.
Notably on the day,
Daniel Hiser and
Ishmael Young added their names to yet another sprint event Top-10 List in Capital history, this time cracking the All-Time marks in the 200 meter dash.
Below is a summary of the top performances from the afternoon:
Men's 60 Meter Hurdles:
Kelly Wilson II qualified for the finals after running an 8.80 second prelim time. In the finals, he moved up one spot to place seventh, clocking a time of 8.73 seconds.
Women's 60 Meter Dash:
Cece Samuels ran the fastest time of the season for any woman on the team, clocking a time of 8.51 seconds in the event.
Natashia Amoako was not far back, clocking a time of 8.63 seconds.
Men's 60 Meter Dash: Four Comets qualified for the finals in the event placing third, fifth, seventh and eighth in the event.
Daniel Hiser clocked a 7.12 second time.
Ishmael Young finished with a time of 7.32 seconds.
Brandon Rex clocked a new PR of 7.55 seconds.
Ethan Barton ran a time of 7.64 seconds in the finals.
Men's One Mile:
Sam Siedel and
Zach Brown competed for the Comets, finishing seventh and 11th, respectively. Siedel clocked a time of 4:47.27 – a new PR by just over a second. Brown finished with a time of 5:04.78.
Women's 400 Meter Dash:
Larissa Agbor-Nkongho led a trio of Comets in the 400 meter run. Agbor-Nkongho finished sixth overall with her top time register 1:06.77.
Hanna Bauer (1:08.92) and
Olivia Humes (1:10.88) finished ninth and 11th in the event as well.
Men's 400 Meter Dash:
Daniel McCormack and
Nick Stuck raced the 400 meter run for the men. McCormack placed sixth (53.74 seconds) and Stuck was ninth (56.26 seconds).
Men's 800 Meter Run:
Bobby Cole and
Jason McColl placed fifth and sixth in the 800 meter run. Cole ran a time of 2:12.76, while McColl was just behind with a time of 2:14.45.
Women's 200 Meter Dash:
Larissa Agbor-Nkongho once again paced a grouping of Comets in a sprint event. This time, Agbor-Nkongho was fifth overall with her time reading 28.14 seconds – the fastest 200 by a Capital sprinter this season.
Natashia Amoako (29.62 seconds),
Cece Samuels (29.83 seconds) and
Olivia Humes (30.03) also ran the event.
Men's 200 Meter Dash:
Daniel Hiser ran the ninth fastest 200 meter dash in program history with a time of 23.22 seconds, good for third overall.
Ishmael Young was right on his heels with a time of 23.26 seconds – good for the 10th best time in Cap history – for a fourth place finish.
Ethan Barton (24.81 seconds) and
Brandon Rex (25.23 seconds) were not far back.
Men's 4x400 Meter Relay: The quartet of
Jason McColl,
Bobby Cole,
Nick Stuck and
Sam Siedel placed fifth overall with a relay time of 3:47.53.
Men's Long Jump:
Daniel McCormack (6.19 meters) and
Ethan Barton (6.09 meters) finished third and fourth in the event. Both jumps marked personal bests for McCormack and Barton.
Men's Pole Vault:
Zion Park's best vault register 4.30 meters. The mark tied his previous best indoor vault.
Women's Long Jump: Three Comets placed third, fourth, and fifth in the long jump.
Cece Samuels led the way with a top jump of 4.67 meters.
Hanna Bauer (4.51 meters) and
Olivia Humes (4.43 meters) were not far behind.

The Comets will send a lighter group to the Wittenberg Invitational tomorrow morning. The next event on the calendar after the Wittenberg meet is the OAC Indoor Championships scheduled for February 25 -26th at Mount Union.
