KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Capital University's
Avery Hart,
Lexi Snider, and
Sophia Leonetti were honored as United Soccer Coaches All-Region selections on Tuesday morning for women's soccer.
In 2022, Capital finished the year 12-4-3 overall which included a 7-0-2 mark in the OAC, an OAC Regular Season title and a berth into the NCAA Tournament first round.
Both Hart and Snider were voted to the first team, while Leonetti was chosen to the third team. This recognition is the second regional honor for Hart and first for both Snider and Leonetti.
Hart led the team offensively with 12 goals and six assists for 30 points this year in her 1,566 minutes of action. Highlights for her came in the form of a hat-trick at John Carroll and multi-goal games against Case Western Reserve and Mt. St. Joseph. At season's end, she was named the OAC's Forward of the Year and to the first team.
Snider was a force to be reckoned with defensively all season until an injury prematurely ended her season. Statistically, Snider handed out three assists and played 1,240 minutes as an outside back. Her efforts earned her the OAC's Co-Defender of the Year and first team honors at the end of the year.
Leonetti logged 1,544 as a defensive center midfielder this season and came on strong late in the year and finished the season with eight goals. Her season was highlighted by a first half hat-trick at home vs. Heidelberg on October 26th. She was named to the All-OAC first team at the end of the season as well.
Dating back to 1999, these three All-Region selections bring the program's total to 33. This also marks the fifth season in which Capital has had three All-Region honorees.
