HOLLAND, Mich. – The Capital University men's and women's cross country teams took to the course in Holland, Michigan at the Great Lakes Regional meet on Saturday, November 12th. There, men's junior
Donovan Slattery put forth the second fastest time the program has seen, while women's senior Eva Bernhardt dropped the seventh best time in program history. Fellow women's senior Alexa Daley also hit an all-time mark coming in 15th best.
"All of our athletes raced great today considering the conditions," said associate head coach
Breanna Clayton. "Snow was falling during both races, but we didn't back down and everyone ran smart and fast. We put ourselves in the mix and came to PR and compete. We have had some ups and downs this season, but it was nice to see it all come together today.I am proud of their effort and I can't think of a better was for our seniors to finish off their collegiate careers!"
MEN
On the men's side,
Donovan Slattery paced the team with a time of 25:14.1 which was good enough for 40th overall and good enough to place him second all-time in Capital history. This time was just five places off an All-Region finish and marked a more than one minute PR.
Max Kramer ran a time of 28:25.9 which was a lifetime personal best by more than two minutes.
Zach Brown clocked a time of 28:34.1, a time that marked a season PR by one minute and 10 seconds.
Zach Glotzbecker rounded out the Comets performances with a time of 28:47.5 which was his second best time of the year. An early trip cost him some time in the end, but overall a solid run for the freshman.
WOMEN
Eva Bernhardt ran a time of 23:50 even today which ties her for seventh all-time in Capital history. She previously sat 13th best with a time of 24:57.6. She is now even with Sarah Rini who ran her 23:50 in 2016.
Alexa Daley was next with a time of 25:10 on the course which beat out her previous best of 25:32.10. That time was good enough for 20th in program history, but she now sits 15th best have edged out Stephanie Spisak's 25:11 ran in 2004.
Elizabeth Mak ran a time of 25:44 which marked a lifetime personal best by 33 seconds.
Allison Costanzo concluded her career with a time of 27:21.8 which marked a season best by more than a minute.

Coaches
BT Pham and Bre Clayton will now hit the recruiting trail in the offseason and look to add runners to pair with a bright group of young returners for next year. Additionally these runners will transition to the track as the indoor track and field season commences in just under a month.
