OBERLIN, Ohio – The Capital University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the ever-challenging Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble, hosted by Oberlin College this morning.
There, the Comets faced a plethora of stiff competition as they prepare for the conference championships later this month.
WOMEN
The Capital women ran a small contingent of just three runners in the race due to injuries, but the three who raced performed well.
Eva Bernhardt paced the Comets with a time of 25:10.0 The time was just 13 seconds off her own personal best on a 6K course, ran her last time out. Had Bernhardt already not sat on the list as 13th best, the 25:10 she ran today would register 15th all-time in Capital history.
Alexa Daley was making her return from injury and clocked in at a 27:00.9, a good mark after missing a portion of her training schedule.
Allison Costanzo rounded out the trio of women Comets to run the event with a time of 28:39.1.
MEN
A grouping of six Comets raced for the men.
Donovan Slattery put forth a decent performance, finishing the 8K course in a time of 26:19.2, good to place him 55th overall out of 299 runners.
The rest of the Comet contingent fell in line toward the back half of the finishers. Grant Wessler led the way with a time of 29:43.8, Zach Brown was just behind by a tenth of a second, finishing in 29:43.9.
The final three finishers for Cap were
Sam Siedel (30:22.1),
Zach Glotzbecker (31:23.5) and Max Kramer (32:23.9).
