WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Featuring two first-place finishes from
Alexa Poling and
Anya Vanasdale, the Capital University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Snowglobe Open at nearby Otterbein University this afternoon.
Poling had her second solid showing of the season by winning the weight throw on just one throw, while Vanasdale paced the field and took top spot in the women's 3,000 meter run by more than 35 seconds.
"We had an overall really good first meet back from break today," said head coach
BT Pham. "We had some solid starting points and metrics that will help us work toward the conference meet this season."
Below is a summary of the top performances from the day:
Women's 3,000m Run:
Anya Vanasdale led the field to take first place with an ending mark of 10:58.34. The time was more than 35 seconds faster than the second place finisher amongst a predominantly division II field. Additionally, the time was a 15-second personal best for Anya and places her fifth overall on the program's all-time list for indoor.
Women's Weight Throw: In the women's weight throw,
Alexa Poling won the event with an opening toss of 13.66 meters.
Women's Shot Put: Following up her effort in the weight toss, Poling took fourth in the shot put with her best throw registering 9.88 meters – a new season-best. Deivon McCullough also threw in the event placing ninth with a new personal best throw of 8.89 meters.
Women's 4x200m Relay: The quartet of
Larissa Agbor-Nkongho,
Hanna Bauer,
Kaya Milby, and
Olivia Humes combined to place second in the 4x200 meter relay with a sharp time of 1:56.78.
Women's 4x400m Relay:
Kaya Milby swapped with
Alexa Daley for the 4x400 relay as Daley joined up with Agbor-Nkongho, Bauer, and Humes to finish second in a time of 4:28.58.
Women's Pole Vault:
Bella McCarty finished fifth in the event with her best jump clearing 2.57 meters.
Women's Long Jump:
Kaya Milby jumped a new personal best in the long jump by more than a foot, registering her best leap at 4.70 meters – good for fifth place overall.
Hanna Bauer and
Olivia Humes also jumped in the event for the Comets.
Women's 200m Dash:
Natashia Amoako ran a personal best in the 200 dash in the fashion of 30.36 seconds.
Women's One Mile Run:
Alexa Daley paced the Comet contingent in the race to place seventh with a time of 5:56.80.
Allison Costanzo and
Elizabeth Mak also competed in the event, crossing the line just nine tenths of a second apart from each other.
Women's 60m Dash:
Kaya Milby (8.52 seconds),
Larissa Agbor-Nkongho (8.61 seconds), and
Natashia Amoako (8.70 seconds) all ran personal bests in the 60 meter dash.
Men's 3,000m Run:
Donovan Slattery was the first Comet to finish the run with a ninth place finish in a time of 9:21.52. The time was good enough to place him ninth on the All-Time list in the event.
Sam Siedel (9:57.31) and Zack Brown (10:16.98) also competed in the event.
Men's 60m Dash: Jonathan Brown and
Daniel Hiser both qualified for the finals in the fastest race of the day. Hiser placed seventh with a time of 7.24 seconds, while Brown was just behind in eighth with a time of 7.25 seconds. Brown's time was good enough to earn him a spot on the All-Time list in the event (eighth).
Men's Pole Vault:
Andy Fullmer placed fourth in the event with his best jump registering at 3.55 meters.
Men's 400m Dash:
Nick Stuck ran a new personal best of 57.73 in the 400m dash to place 10th overall.
Men's 200m Dash:
Daniel Hiser (24.08),
Ishmael Young (24.25),
Ethan Barton (25.42), and
Nick Stuck (25.85) all competed in the 200m dash, with Hiser, Young, and Stuck all eclipsing their previous best time.
Men's Shot Put:
Jonathan Kirk tossed his best season-opening mark of his career with a best throw of 13.00 meters.
