Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- On Friday afternoon, the Capital University women's tennis team dropped their first match of the season at Mt. Vernon Nazarene University. The hosts took the match via a 7-0 scoreline.
In doubles, the Cougars emerged with all three wins. In order of first, second and third doubles,

Abigail Hornacek fell 6-2,
Nicole Flock /
Josie Nichols lost 7-5, and
Karen Kanke /
Maria Pickerill were upended 6-3.
In singles, Mt. Vernon once again took all the matches. Fletcher lost 6-1, 6-4; Flock dropped her bout 6-4, 6-2; Hornacek faltered at 6-2, 6-1;
Rachel Smith was upended 6-2, 6-4; Nichols lost 6-1, 7-6; and Kanke lost the sixth match 6-3, 6-4. Nichols' second set loss came via a 8-6 tiebreaker scoreline.
Capital will round out the fall season on October 1st at Muskingum University, their first OAC match of the year.
