COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's lacrosse team (1-2) dropped a tough game with Kenyon College by a score of 11-6.
QUICK START
- In the first minute and a half the Crusaders jumped out to a 2-0 advantage with goals from CJ Hughes and Talbott Gottwals, each assisted by Carter McCormick.
- However, the Lords opened up their offense and scored four goals, two on man-up opportunities, to close the first quarter.
- McCormick grabbed his third point of the game with a goal but two more goals on the Kenyon side made the deficit 6-3 at the halfway point.
DIFFICULT SECOND
- The lone goal in the third quarter came from senior Adam Rieger who broke through for his first score of the season and first in a long while as the senior has battled injuries throughout his career that have prevented him from being on the field.
- He wasted no time bagging his second goal two minutes after his first to again get Capital within one goal at 6-5.
- However, from that point on the Kenyon offense came alive and scored multiple late goals to post the final of 11-6.
KEY STATS
- McCormick led the team with three points, dishing two assists and scoring a goal.
- Rieger topped the squad with two goals, both coming within two minutes of one another.
