Capital Falls to Kenyon, 11-6, on the Road

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's lacrosse team (1-2) dropped a tough game with Kenyon College by a score of 11-6.

QUICK START

In the first minute and a half the Crusaders jumped out to a 2-0 advantage with goals from CJ Hughes and Talbott Gottwals, each assisted by Carter McCormick.
However, the Lords opened up their offense and scored four goals, two on man-up opportunities, to close the first quarter.
McCormick grabbed his third point of the game with a goal but two more goals on the Kenyon side made the deficit 6-3 at the halfway point.

DIFFICULT SECOND

The lone goal in the third quarter came from senior Adam Rieger who broke through for his first score of the season and first in a long while as the senior has battled injuries throughout his career that have prevented him from being on the field.
He wasted no time bagging his second goal two minutes after his first to again get Capital within one goal at 6-5.
However, from that point on the Kenyon offense came alive and scored multiple late goals to post the final of 11-6.

KEY STATS

McCormick led the team with three points, dishing two assists and scoring a goal.
Rieger topped the squad with two goals, both coming within two minutes of one another.

The Crusaders come back to Columbus, taking on DePauw University in Bernlohr Stadium on February 29 at 1 p.m.
