Crusaders Win First Game of the 2019-20 Season

COLUMBUS, Ohio– The Capital women's soccer team hosted its first match of the 2019-20 season on Sunday afternoon at Bernlohr Stadium. The Crusaders defeated Olivet College, 3-0.

Capital took the lead late in the first to put the team ahead of the Comets, 1-0. The Crusaders had a total of nine shots on goal in the first, one of which found the back of the net. Freshman forward Avery Hart scored for the Crusaders, marking her first collegiate goal. Olivet was only able to get one shot off in the first. 

In the 65thminute of the game, Hart scored her second goal of the afternoon, putting the Crusaders ahead 2-0. Also scoring for the Crusaders was sophomore forward Kailey Stanisovska, putting the Crusaders ahead by three. This was also Stanisovska's first collegiate goal. Collectively, the team only allowed Olivet two shots the entire game. Junior goalkeeper Kelly Bachmann started her season off on the right foot with a shutout.  

The Crusaders ended the game with 24 shots, eight of which were on frame. Capital now sits at 1-0-0 heading into its second game of the season.  

NEXT UP 

The Purple and White will play their second game of the season against Wheaton College at Ohio Northern University next Saturday, Sept. 7.
