WESTERVILLE, Ohio – On Monday afternoon, the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) announced its OAC Athlete of the Week honors, with sophomore defender
Elise Buckerfield earning Defensive Player of the Week.
The award marks Buckerfield's first weekly OAC honor and the women's soccer team's sixth weekly award winner of the season.
Buckerfield anchored the Comet back line in Wednesday night's shutout victory over Marietta, limiting the Pioneers to just four shots on target in a 1-0 win to keep Capital undefeated in conference play. The sophomore has recorded one goal and three assists this season while continuing to make an impact on the line as the Comets maintain a strong 13-2 overall record.
The Comets look ahead to a pivotal week as they wrap up OAC play against the conference's other top two teams, traveling to Ohio Northern on Wednesday in Ada before hosting Otterbein on Saturday at Bernlohr Stadium.
