Women’s Soccer Falls to ONU

ADA, Ohio – The Capital University women's soccer team suffered a tough 2-1 loss at the hands of Ohio Northern on Wednesday night.

The result for both teams makes things interesting heading into the final day of the regular season on Saturday as Ohio Northern and Capital are both 6-1 in OAC play and Otterbein is 6-0-1 in the conference. The OAC Regular Season Championship and top seed for the conference tournament will be fully up for grabs among the conference's three teams at 4 p.m. this Saturday. Looking ahead to the weekend, Capital hosts Otterbein at Bernlohr Stadium, while Ohio Northern will travel to Mount Union.

In tonight's game, Capital fell behind in just the eighth minute and was forced to play catch up much of the way. The 1-0 ONU lead would carry through the first half and into the second half before things would change.

In the 61st minute, Capital leveled the score as Juli Sprague netted her fourth goal of the season to level things at 1-1. Payton Childers played a ball through the ONU back line before the Polar Bears' goalie's attempted clearance went off Sprague allowing her to shoot into an empty net.

That tied game looked to be a pending final score, but the Comets unfortunately conceded again, this time in the 74th minute to go behind by the eventual 2-1 scoreline.

In the end, Lauren Hinshaw made two saves in net as Capital out-shot the Polar Bears 8-7.
