Women's Soccer Claims Regular-Season Co-Championship With Win Over Otterbein

COLUMBUS, Ohio - In a battle for the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) regular-season title, Capital's women's soccer team faced off against Otterbein in a traditional rivalry matchup. Capital dominated the Cardinals, earning an impressive 3-0 victory.

With the crucial win, Capital secured a share of the OAC regular-season championship and earned the second seed in the six-team OAC Tournament. The Comets finished the regular season with a 14-3-0 record, while Otterbein closed at 8-7-1.

From the opening whistle, the Comets put heavy pressure on Otterbein's defense. In the 16th minute, Brooklyn Herbert broke through, beating a Cardinal defender before firing a beautiful left-footed shot into the net to give Capital a 1-0 lead.

Both teams remained scoreless for the rest of the first half, but Capital's offensive momentum was evident. The Comets recorded 14 shots compared to just two for Otterbein.

Capital carried that momentum into the second half. Less than five minutes after the break, Megan Foulke scored her third goal of the season following a scramble in the box. Brinley Barnett and Brooklyn Herbert assisted on the play, extending the Comets' lead to 2-0.

Foulke put the finishing touches on the victory with her second goal of the night, once again assisted by Barnett, along with Kristiane Kleppe. The goal secured Capital's 3-0 victory and brought the OAR trophy back to Bernlohr Stadium.

Capital finished with 33 shots, including 15 on goal, compared to Otterbein's seven shots, four of which were on target. Goalkeeper Lauren Hinshaw recorded four saves.
