By: Ryan Gasser, sports information director

COLUMBUS, Ohio – While the final scores may not openly show it, Capital Women's Tennis displayed grit and battled with Pikeville University (Ky.) to a 7-2 loss on Saturday afternoon at the Olympic Indoor Tennis Center.

Capital (4-3) claimed its first point at number three doubles when Julia Holt and Emma Price took care of business against Ashton Jones and Sahoka Nagai, 8-1. The win marks Price's first of her career in just her second match.

Pikeville (1-0) took the other two doubles matches and then two more points out of the number one and four singles bouts. Mackenzie Archibald (Parma, Ohio/Parma) then broke the run with a win at six singles over Nagai, 6-1, 6-1. From there, Pikeville earned wins in the final two singles spots.

Maria Sadek (Cairo, Egypt/Hilliard Coffman) was elevated into the number one spot for Saturday's match but fell to Andrea Hurtado (6-1, 6-2). Madison Watt, now playing out of the two spot, lost to Camila Agudelo, 6-2, 6-2.  Sadek and Watt lost in their top flight doubles match against Hurtado and Agudelo as well, 8-1.

Julia Holt and Karen Kanke also took losses out of the four and five spots, respectively.

Capital will play its next match at The College of Wooster as part of a tri-match against the Fighting Scots and the Calvin College Knights. The Crusaders and Knights will kick it off on Saturday, March 9 at the Aspen Raquet Club with a 12:30 p.m. first service.
