COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital University Women's Tennis did not seem to miss a beat despite a four-month layoff. The Crusaders opened the spring season with a solid effort up and down the lineup, resulting in a 7-2 victory over Concordia University (Mich.) on Saturday afternoon at the Olympic Indoor Tennis Center.

Capital (4-2) came out swinging and took two of three doubles matches with both victories coming by 8-1 counts. Sophomore Madison Watt (Wapakoneta, Ohio/Wapakoneta) and Maria Sadek (Cairo, Egypt/Dublin Coffman) took the victory at number one doubles while Elizabeth Sadek (Cairo, Egypt/Dublin Coffman) and MacKenzie Archibald (Parma, Ohio/Parma) paired up for the win at number two doubles.

The momentum kept in Capital's court, though not every match came easy. Watt took a three-set victory at the top spot over Charity Felton after splitting the first two (6-1, 2-6). Watt came back and rolled to a 6-2 win in the third to clinch the point.

Maria Sadek powered her way to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Kayla Verhelle at two singles. Her sister, Elizabeth, continued her successful debut with a straight-set win over Kaylee Tucker, 6-2, 6-2.

Senior Katie Woods and Archibald collected wins and six and five singles, respectively, to complete Cap's account in the win.

The Crusaders will return to the courts at Olympic Indoor for a match against Pikeville University (Ky.) that will begin at 12 p.m. on February 23.
