Men's Tennis Shuts Out Ohio Christian in Home Finale

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital University Men's Tennis defended its home court for the final time this season successfully by defeating Ohio Christian University in shutout fashion, 9-0. Capital improved its overall record to 7-15 with its win on Monday afternoon at the CU Tennis Courts.

Capital rolled through doubles play with large victories in all three doubles matches. The tandems of Dale Booher and Santino DiMichaelangelo, and Hunter Walter and Ben Heiland each earned 8-0 wins over their respective opponents.

Of the four singles matches that went the full distance, five of seven sets went without surrendering a point to OCU. Junior C.J. Martin shutout his opponent, Colin Dorman (6-0, 6-0). John Roberts and Ben Heiland defeated their respective opponents 6-1, 6-0. Booher won the top-flight match over Ryan Jones, 6-0, 6-1.

With the team match well in hand, DiMichaelangelo and Walter had their matches shortened to one-set, eight-point races. Both won by large margins to complete the shutout.

Capital has one final regular season match on Saturday, April 24 at Ohio Northern University. The match will have ramifications on OAC Tournament seeding. Currently, Cap is sixth in the OAC team standings with a win would leap Ohio Northern for the fifth spot and then face rival Otterbein in Westerville in the quarter-final round of the tournament. A loss seals their spot for sixth and then primes the Crusaders for a road matchup with Baldwin Wallace.
