Men's Tennis Downed by Earlham

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital Men's Tennis dropped a nonconference matchup against Earlham College on Saturday afternoon by a count of 7-2 at the CU Tennis Courts. Capital is now 2-12 overall on the season.

Capital (2-12) pulled out one singles and one doubles match victory in their matchup against the Quakers. Junior C.J. Martin (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Darby) was a part of each of those wins. He paired up with senior Dale Booher in the top flight doubles match for a 9-7 win over Vitalii Stadnyk and Vojislav Tatarevic. Martin then came back for a win at number two singles against Aleksandr Sergeev in three sets. After splitting the first two, 6-4 and 3-6, the duo came back for the tiebreaking set. Martin battled to win 11-9 for the match-clinching point.

Earlham (8-5) took the second and third doubles matches by counts of 8-1 and 8-3. All of the remaining singles matches were won by Earlham in two sets. Booher gave chase to Stadnyk but fell 7-5, 6-3. Ben Heiland battled in the six spot, but lost to Jason Lawson, 6-3, 6-4.

Capital jumps back into conference action with a road trip to Tiffin, Ohio where they will play Heidelberg University on Tuesday, April 4 at 3:30 p.m.
