Crusaders Fall to Top-Ranked Blue Steaks in OAC Tournament Semis

MASON, Ohio – The Capital University men's tennis team saw its season come to close in the OAC Tournament semifinals when John Carroll University turned down the Crusaders, 5-1. Capital ends the season 11-13 overall after its second straight trip to the semi-final round.

Capital took an early 1-0 lead with the first doubles match going to the duo of seniors Jared Judson (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) and Luke Buchanan (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville Central). They defeated Scott Adsit and Dillon O'Brien, 8-2, for the early advantage.

However, doubles matches one and three went the way of the top seed by scores of 8-3 and 8-5 to give JCU the lead.

John Carroll then took three straight singles matches to clinch the day. Flights one, two and five went the way of the Blue Streaks, all in convincing fashion. Buchanan lost to Jad Abdul-Aal by scores of 6-2, 6-2. David Sinense turned down Dale Booher 6-0, 6-1, and Gian Carlo DiMichaelangelo dropped his match to Tyler Cole 6-1, 6-1.

All remaining matches were suspended once JCU clinched the team win.

The loss closes out Capital's season with an 11-13 overall record after taking the number-four seed into the tournament.
