Box Score WILMINGTON, Ohio – Capital University Women's Lacrosse have been functioning at full capacity lately, and Wednesday night was no different during its road trip to Wilmington. The Crusaders and Quakers met up at Williams Stadium, where Capital exerted its will in a 19-2 drubbing of Wilmington College. Capital has now won four straight and remains unblemished in conference play.
While the first seven minutes did not feature a goal for either side, once Capital marked up the scoreboard in the ninth minute they could not be stopped. Senior Kim Hoerauf (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) connected with junior Kori Titus to post Capital's first goal in a 2:04 span of time. Up 3-1, they added another when Titus set up sophomore Taylor Thomas (Massillon, Ohio) for her first of five goals on the night.
The duo of Kara Hines (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) and MacKenna Ozenghar scored each of the next five Capital goals, alternative scores over an eight-minute period of time. Both of Ozenghar's goals came off of free position shots.
While the offense found itself busy scoring 13 times in the first half, the defense also did a number by allowing just one goal over 30 minutes. Wilmington turned the ball over 16 times in the first half and was only able to launch one shot attempt. The Crusaders held the Quakers to just 7-for-15 on clear attempts in the opening half and held a 23-4 advantage on ground balls.
The second half featured a similar tale with the Crusaders outscoring the Quakers, 6-1.
Junior Maddie Wilson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) and freshman Lisa Lotz (Forest, Va.) split time in Wednesday's game. Wilson faced just one shot in her 30 minutes of play, while Lotz made two saves on three shots faced.
Hines finished with a team-high six goals on nine shots. She also collected a career-high 11 ground balls and collected a team-best six draw controls.
Hoerauf ended with two goals, five ground balls, five draw controls, and two caused turnovers.
Capital (9-3) continues to sit toward the top of the conference with its 4-0 conference record and fourth straight victory. The Crusaders will play host in each of its final three games, beginning with nationally-ranked University of Mount Union on Saturday, April 23 at 1 p.m.
