ADA, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team fell to the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern, 5-0, in the quarter-final round of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament. The Crusaders' season is now complete, closing out with a 3-11 overall record.
Ohio Northern, the tournament's top seed, made quick work of the Crusaders a sweep in all three doubles matches. Ashlin Gable and Kelsey Niese provided a challenge in the No. 2 doubles match, but eventually fell to Michelle Turna and Meghan Letizia, 8-5.
The Crusaders were unable to overcome ONU's hot start. The Polar Bears clinched the match with wins in their third and fourth singles bouts, both in shutout fashion.
The loss ends Capital's season, dropping them to 3-11 overall.
Ohio Northern (18-3) will advance to the OAC Tournament Semifinals to play the winner of the #4 Baldwin Wallace University / #4 Otterbein University match. They will play Friday, May 1 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
