The Capital No. 2 and No. 3 doubles team made light work of their respective opponents, giving the Crusaders a 2-0 edge. CJ Martin (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) and Kenny Duncan (Poland, Ohio) combined to defeat Gleb Babikov and TiQi Brown by an 8-2 count. Beau Streety (Tucson, Ariz.) and Jared Judson (Dublin, Ohio) nearly shut out their opponents, defeating the combo of Bret Marshall and Adam Schwartz, 8-1.
Dale Booher (Hartville, Ohio) redeemed himself after suffering a loss in doubles play by defeating Babikov in the second singles flight, 6-4, 6-3. Martin and Judson also pulled down victories in singles play coming out of the No. 3 and No. 6 positions, respectively. Martin battled Jack Ventura-Cruess to a 6-4, 6-1 win while Judson beat Brown 6-4, 6-0.
Earlham entered the match ranked 10th in the Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Since those rankings have come out, they have lost four straight matches.
With the rebound win over the Quakers, Capital (4-2) earned its first win of the spring season. They will participate in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 21 at Wabash College when they play the host Little Giants at 9 a.m. and then return to play Hanover College (Ind.) in the afternoon.
