Box Score WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Capital University men's basketball suffered a 72-57 setback at Wilmington College, Wednesday night.
The Crusaders used an 11-0 run, six minutes into the game to build a 20-13 lead. The run was jumpstarted when Brennan Czuchran (Rayland, Ohio) connected on a pair of shots, one being a three ball. After assisting Czuchran on both of his shots, sophomore guard Tyrel Jackson (Dublin, Ohio) added three points of his own with a three-point jumper.
The Quakers finished the half strong, scoring nine of the final 11 points of the half. After a pair of Ben McGriff layups, Dwight Johnson was able to swing momentum in favor of Wilmington by hitting a three-point shot as time expired. Wilmington led 39-30 at the half.
The second half belonged to the Quakers as they stayed on top of the Crusaders for good, increasing their lead to 15 with a minute left to play. Wilmington defended Capital into shooting only 40 percent from the field (10-of-26) and .167 from the arc (1-of-6).
Wilmington's largest advantage came in field goal percentage, shooting .558 (29-for-52) compared to Capital's .447 (21-for-47). The Quakers also outscored the Crusaders 48-30 in the paint.
Senior forward Andrew Bolka led the Crusaders in points with 14. Bolka also added a game-high nine rebounds. AJ Dixon (Hilliard, Ohio), Curt Geise (Delphos, Ohio), and Czuchran also chipped in nine points apiece.
The Quakers featured three double-digit scorers as Johnathan Bibbs scored a game-high 15 points, while Dwight Johnson and RJ Lippert each scored 14.
The Crusaders return to the Capital Center on Saturday, Jan. 31 to play host to Mount Union at 2 p.m.
