The Capital University women's tennis team's season came to a close Tuesday with a 5-0 setback at cross-town rival Otterbein in an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal at Westerville, Ohio.

The Crusaders finish the season with a 1-12 overall mark, including a 1-7 record in OAC play.

The Cardinals, who won the OAC regular season championship, improve to 18-2 and advance to Friday's semifinals at Lindner Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

Otterbein took all three doubles matches to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Junior Corrine Hohenstein (Sidney, Ohio) and sophomore Jennie Schott (Pickerington, Ohio) came the closest in their match at No. 2 doubles, falling 8-3. Junior Diana Lolli (Grandview Heights, Ohio) and sophomore Kelsey Niese (Shelby, Ohio) were downed 8-1 at the third position, while junior Alyssa Trier (Venetia, Pa.) and sophomore Ashlin Gable (Bluffton, Ohio) suffered an 8-0 setback at No. 1.

The Cardinals won singles matches at the Nos. 1 and 3 slots to clinch the match. All other singles contests were unfinished when Otterbein posted the fifth and deciding point.

Trier, Schott and Hohenstein tied for the team lead for the year with two singles and two doubles victories apiece. Gable, Lolli and Niese each finished with one in each category.

Capital is slated to return its entire roster in 2014-15 and will seek its third straight appearance in the conference tournament.
