HILLIARD, Ohio – The Capital University men's tennis team won its eighth straight dual match to open the postseason Tuesday, defeating Mount Union 5-3 in an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal at The Players Club.

The No. 3 seed Crusaders (11-6 overall) move on to the OAC Tournament semifinals, where they'll face second-seeded Baldwin Wallace Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Lindner Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

The Purple Raiders, the tournament's No. 6 seed, finished their season with a 10-6 overall mark.

Sophomore Jared Judson (Dublin, Ohio) clinched the match for Capital with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph at the No. 6 singles position. Sophomore Luke Buchanan (Westerville, Ohio) and freshman Dale Booher (Hartville, Ohio) also posted singles victories. Buchanan knocked off Malcolm Leake 6-4, 6-2 at the top spot, while Booher outlasted Rob DeMarco 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 2.

Freshman Beau Streety (Tuscon, Ariz.) was just points away from his 14th consecutive singles win before his match was left unfinished after Judson's win gave the Crusaders the fifth and deciding point.

Buchanan and Booher teamed up at No. 1 doubles to provide an 8-2 triumph, while Streety and Judson combined for the other doubles point with an 8-4 win at the No. 3 slot.

Capital's semifinal appearance will be the program's second straight and second since the tournament moved to a dual match format in 2001.
