COLUMBUS – The Capital University men's tennis team won for the third time in a five-day span Sunday, downing John Carroll 7-2 in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual match at the Capital Tennis Courts.

The Crusaders (7-6 overall, 4-2 OAC), who have now won four straight dual matches, took two of three doubles matches and five of six singles matches to jump over the .500 mark overall.

Capital and the Blue Streaks (7-9, 4-2) are now part of a three-way tie for third place in the league standings with Ohio Northern.

The No. 1 doubles pair of sophomore Luke Buchanan (Westerville, Ohio) and freshman Dale Booher (Hartville, Ohio) started the Crusaders with an 8-2 victory. Sophomore Jared Judson (Dublin, Ohio) and freshman Beau Streety (Tuscon, Ariz.) followed suit with an 8-3 triumph at the third doubles position.

Streety and Judson, the team's leaders in singles wins for the season with 12 and 11, respectively, were off the court first in singles play. Streety registered a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Hunter Pellegrini at No. 5, and Judson knocked off Eric Grimaldi 6-2, 6-4 at the sixth slot.

Junior Kenny Duncan (Poland, Ohio) clinched the match for Capital with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Kyle Mollison at the No. 3 spot. Booher tallied his 10th singles win of the season, 6-4, 7-5, over John Carroll's Sean Graham at No. 2.

Sophomore Spencer Walter (Hilliard, Ohio) survived a 6-2, 0-6, 7-6 (4) contest against Nick Siciliano at the fourth position to round out the Crusaders' scoring.

Capital resumes conference play Tuesday at Marietta at 3:30 p.m.
