COLUMBUS – The Capital University men's tennis team posted its third straight victory Saturday with a 7-2 triumph over Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual match at the Capital Tennis Courts.
The Crusaders (6-6 overall, 3-2 OAC) won two of the three doubles matches before taking five of six in singles, with the lone loss coming in a third set.
The Purple Raiders dropped to 9-3 overall and 2-3 in the league with the loss.
Sophomore Luke Buchanan (Westerville, Ohio) and freshman Dale Booher (Hartville, Ohio) combined for an 8-1 triumph at No. 1 doubles. Sophomore Jared Judson (Dublin, Ohio) and freshman Beau Streety (Tuscon, Ariz.) made it two of three for Capital with an 8-3 win at the third position.
Judson was the first off the court in singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Dominic Marino at No. 6. Buchanan gave the Crusaders their fourth point with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph at the top singles spot.
Junior Kenny Duncan (Poland, Ohio) clinched the match for Capital with a 7-5, 6-2 win against Ben Swope at the No. 3 slot. Booher increased the margin with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 2.
Streety capped the Crusaders' scoring effort with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 triumph at the fifth position.
Capital looks to push its streak to four tomorrow at home against John Carroll. First serve of the men's-women's doubleheader is slated for noon.
