Men's Tennis Edged by Rival Otterbein

COLUMBUS – The Capital University men's tennis team split its six singles matches but was 1-for-3 in doubles Monday in a 5-4 setback against cross-town rival Otterbein in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual match at the Capital Tennis Courts.

Sophomore Jared Judson (Dublin, Ohio) and freshman Beau Streety (Tuscon, Ariz.) each won in both singles and doubles for the Crusaders (3-6 overall, 0-2 OAC).

The Cardinals (8-3, 1-0) took closely contested doubles matches at the top two positions. Judson and Streety combined to defeat Jacob DeVore and Kendall Coffman 8-6 at the No. 3 spot to cut Capital's deficit in half at 2-1.

Freshman Dale Booher (Hartville, Ohio) moved to 7-4 in singles play on the season with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Ryan Shutt at the second singles slot.

Streety posted his team-leading ninth victory of the season  by a 7-6 (8), 6-2 count against Coffman at No. 4. Judson improved to 8-3 with a 6-1, 6-7 (3), 6-3 triumph over Sam Lawless at the sixth position.

Sophomore Spencer Walter (Hilliard, Ohio) nearly gave the Crusaders a fifth point for the team win, but was outlasted in three sets by David Seckel 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
