The Capital University men's tennis team saw its 2013 season come to a close Friday, falling 5-3 against Otterbein in an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal match at Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

The Crusaders, who were seeded No. 2 in the tournament, finish the 2012-13 campaign with a 13-6 overall record, including a 7-2 mark in the conference. The third-seeded Cardinals (16-6) advance to the OAC Tournament final, where they'll face regular season champion and No. 1 seed Ohio Northern.

Capital, which defeated Otterbein to close the regular season last Saturday, took one of the three doubles matches to fall behind 2-1. Senior John Murray (Bolingbrook, Ill.) teamed with sophomore Kenny Duncan (Poland, Ohio) for an 8-4 triumph at the No. 2 spot.

Freshmen Gian Carlo DiMichelangelo (Westerville, Ohio) and Jared Judson (Dublin, Ohio) each posted singles victories to lead the Crusaders. DiMichelangelo won 6-3, 7-5 at the fifth position, while Judson defeated Tyler Gibbons at the sixth spot 6-4, 6-2.

Murray's match at the No. 2 spot was left unfinished as the Cardinals clinched the fifth point needed to end the contest. Murray won the first set 6-1 before dropping the second, and the match was called in the third set with Murray trailing 2-1.

Judson paced Capital for the season with a 14-5 singles record playing primarily at the sixth position. Duncan and Murray led the team in doubles wins with 15, all but one coming at the No. 2 position.

Five of the team's six starters from Friday are slated to return in 2013-14 for head coach Rob Postma, who will enter his fourth season at the helm.
