Capital Edged in Non-Conference Dual

COLUMBUS – The Capital University men's tennis team saw its three-match winning streak come to an end Wednesday with a 5-4 setback against Cedarville in a non-conference affair at Capital.

 

The Crusaders (7-3 overall) split six singles matches against the Division II Yellow Jackets (6-10), but were bested in two of three doubles contests.

 

Freshman Jared Judson (Dublin, Ohio) led Capital with victories in both singles and doubles. Judson teamed with freshman Gian Carlo DiMichelangelo (Westerville, Ohio) for an 8-3 triumph at No. 3 doubles before winning 6-4, 6-4 at the sixth singles spot.

 

Sophomore Kenny Duncan (Poland, Ohio) and freshman Spencer Walter (Hilliard, Ohio) posted the other victories for the Crusaders. Duncan knocked off Quinton Paul 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, while Walter defeated Adam Levesque 7-6 (6), 6-4 at the No. 4 slot.

 

Capital returns to Ohio Athletic Conference play this Friday against Wilmington. First serve is slated for 3:30 p.m. at the Capital Tennis Courts.
