COLUMBUS – The Capital University women's tennis team played its final regular season dual match of the season Saturday, falling 9-0 against Otterbein in an Ohio Athletic Conference contest at the Capital Tennis Courts.
Senior Collyn Weaver (Upper Sandusky, Ohio) competed in her final home match on Senior Day for the Crusaders (7-11 overall, 4-5 OAC), who begin play in the OAC Tournament as the No. 5 seed next week.
Weaver teamed up with junior Kathryn MacFarland (Clyde, Ohio) at third doubles and was defeated 8-1. Weaver posted three doubles wins this season with three different teammates.
Capital's No. 2 pair of freshman Jennie Schott (Pickerington, Ohio) and junior Elisabeth McLaughlin (Granville, Ohio) went down 8-4, while freshman Ashlin Gable (Bluffton, Ohio) and sophomore Alyssa Trier (Venetia, Pa.) were downed 8-0 at the top spot.
The Crusaders were knocked off in all six singles spots following doubles play.
Otterbein improved to 16-4 on the year and 8-1 in the conference with the win.
Capital begins OAC Tournament play next week at fourth-seeded John Carroll at a date and time to be announced.
