Men's Tennis Falls Against Baldwin Wallace

COLUMBUS – The Capital University men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 defeat against Baldwin Wallace Friday at the Capital Tennis Courts.

 

In their final home match of the regular season, the Crusaders (11-5 overall, 6-2 OAC) were unable to capture a doubles point and fell in five of six singles matches.

 

The Yellow Jackets, who had won 47 straight regular season matches until a recent loss against Ohio Northern, moved to 22-1 and 7-1 in the conference.

 

Freshman Jared Judson (Dublin, Ohio) provided the highlight of the day, knocking off BW's Doug Ganim 7-6 (3), 1-6, 1-0 (10-7). With the win, Judson improved to 11-5 overall and 5-1 against OAC opponents.

 

Seniors John Murray (Bolingbrook, Ill.) and Doug Gugel-Bryant (Lancaster, Ohio) teamed up at No. 3 doubles in their final match at Capital. The duo was bested 8-0 by Joe Horvath and Alexander Kearney.

 

Capital resumes play tomorrow at cross-town rival Otterbein. Match time is slated for 1 p.m. in Westerville. OAC Tournament play begins next week.
