COLUMBUS – The Capital University men's tennis team continued its unbeaten run in Ohio Athletic Conference play Monday with a 5-4 victory over John Carroll at the Capital Tennis Courts.

The Crusaders (11-3 overall, 6-0 OAC) won two of three doubles matches before taking half of the six singles spots for a match victory by the slimmest of margins.

The Blue Streaks dropped to 4-11 overall and 3-4 in the league with the setback.

Senior John Murray (Bolingbrook, Ill.) and freshman Jared Judson (Dublin, Ohio) were each victorious in both matches they were involved in to lead Capital.

Murray teamed with sophomore Kenneth Duncan (Poland, Ohio) to post an 8-2 triumph at No. 2 doubles. At the third spot, Judson and freshman Gian Carlo DiMichelangelo (Westerville, Ohio) combined to defeat Paul Olexa and Sawyer Dina of John Carroll by an 8-4 margin.

In singles play, Murray bested Peter Nemes 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 4 slot, while Judson knocked off Olexa at the sixth position by a 6-4, 6-0 count. Freshman Spencer Walter (Hilliard, Ohio) also won in straight sets, defeating Dina 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3.

DiMichelangelo and fellow freshman Luke Buchanan (Westerville, Ohio) each won their first set before eventually falling in three.

The Crusaders look to continue their strong play Wednesday at Ohio Northern, the league's only other unbeaten in OAC play. First serve of the showdown is slated for 3:30 p.m. in Ada.
