COLUMBUS – The Capital University women's tennis team hosted its final meet of the fall season Friday, falling 8-1 against Wittenberg in a non-conference meet at the Capital Tennis Courts and the Capital Center Field House.
The match was moved inside due to inclement weather in the area.
Senior Sara Ireland (Charleston, W.Va.) and junior Rebecca Hunt (Cincinnati, Ohio) picked up the lone victory for the Crusaders (0-2 overall). The duo picked up a 9-7 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Juniors Corinne Hohenstein (Sidney, Ohio) and Alyssa Trier (Venetia, Pa.) nearly gave Capital two wins in the meet's three doubles matches, but were outlasted 9-7 at the third position.
Hunt recorded the closest loss of the six pro-set singles matches, suffering an 8-4 setback at the No. 5 slot.
The Tigers improved to 2-0 on the campaign with the dual win.
