COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University softball team has been placed in the St. Louis Regional bracket as they will head to Washington University of St. Louis for the NCAA Regionals set to begin play on Thursday of this week.
Capital (21-17) will take on the host school No. 7 nationally ranked WashU (28-5-1) in their opening game, while No. 14 nationally ranked Wisconsin-Oshkosh (30-8-1) will battle Illinois College (33-10) in the other opening game. The NCAA Tournament is a double elimination format. The winner of the WashU Regional will take on the winner of the Belhaven Regional in the Super Regionals.
Capital garnered the Ohio Athletic Conference's automatic bid after stunning the conference and winning the OAC Tournament as the No. 6 seed by beating Baldwin Wallace, No. 11 nationally ranked Mount Union and Heidelberg. The bid to the NCAA Tournament is the fifth in school history and first since 2013. Additionally, the OAC Tournament Championship was the program's third in school history and first since 1997.
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
Capital will take on WashU on Thursday, May 14th at 11 a.m. CST, while Oshkosh and Ill. College will play at 1:30 p.m. CST.
For those planning to make the trip, WashU is also hosting commencement on Saturday, so please be mindful of parking signage on campus to assist game attendees.
Tickets will be sold onsite at the venue and are $15 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-12. Gates will open 60-minutes prior to first pitch.
