DELAWARE, Ohio – The Capital University track and field team traveled north to Ohio Wesleyan University where they took part in the 2026 Marv Frye Invitational.
It was there that the Comets put forth a good showing across the board and even narrowly missed out on two school records in the women's pole vault and women's 400-meter hurdles.
Nonetheless, the Comets performances are highlighted below.
MEN
100-meter dash:
Cheik Souare finished ninth in a time of 10.82 seconds, followed by
Leighton Kordack in 11.11 seconds.
200-meter dash:
Neko Henry was fifth in a time of 22.94 seconds.
Cheik Souare placed ninth in 23.19 seconds.
Leighton Kordack was 16th in 23.81 seconds, while
Trevor Estep rounded it out in 25.75 seconds.
400-meter dash:
Henry Taylor ran a time of 55.65 seconds, followed closely by
Trevor Estep who clocked in at 59.19 seconds.
800-meter run:
Kolin Brake led a contingent of Comets in the 800 as he finished fifth in 1:59.71.
Chip Smith was ninth in 2:04.00 and
Ridwan Aliawl was 10th in 2:04.18.
1,500-meter run:
Justin Rona finished runner-up to lead a host of Comets in the event. Rona ran a time of 4:10.54 and was followed by
Mikey Arnone in sixth with a time of 4:11.34.
Zach Glotzbecker was eighth in 4:16.44,
Aiden Mahony was 10th in 4:19.32,
Dimetrius Floyd was 11th in 4:21.00,
Braydon Nix was 13th in 4:26.36,
Aaron McNutt was 16th in 4:31.96,
Reef Murray was 18th in 4:35.06,
Jordan Hull was 20th in 4:38.99 and
Aiden Smith was 22nd in 4:46.64.
4x400-meter relay: The team of
Mershaud Parker,
Neko Henry,
Kolin Brake and
Leighton Kordack placed sixth in a time of 3:31.79.
Shot Put:
Nolan Piper placed fourth overall with a top throw of 13.59 meters.
Hammer Throw: Piper was back in action in the hammer throw, this time winning the event with a mark of 50.60 meters.
Javelin:
Henry Taylor tossed a distance of 36.32 meters to take sixth place.
WOMEN
100-meter dash:
Jaleea Harvey ran a time of 12.68 seconds to take 10th overall.
Jersie Papacostas was 17th in 13.23 seconds.
100-meter hurdles:
Maria Da Cunha placed fourth overall in a time of 15.25 seconds.
200-meter dash:
Isabella Johnson placed seventh in a time of 27.46 seconds.
Juli Sprague was 19th in a time of 29.10 seconds.
400-meter dash:
Juli Sprague placed fifth in a time of 1:02.66, while teammate
Shelby Janes was right on her heels in sixth with a time of 1:02.71.
400-meter hurdles:
Maria Da Cunha placed runner-up with a time of 1:03.97. The time was a new PR for Da Cunha, and fell just .02 seconds off the school record.
800-meter run:
Chloe Zarlino clocked in a time of 2:56.25 to place 18th.
1,500-meter run:
Laney Tarr placed fifth overall in a time of 5:09.78.
Jenavieve Vasquez was 15th in a time of 5:34.14.
4x400-meter relay: The quartet of
Isabella Johnson,
Maria Da Cunha,
Jaleea Harvey and
Juli Sprague placed third in a time of 4:10.58.
Hammer Throw:
Mia Sanchez finished with a top throw of 34.69 meters to place 13th.
Lillian Baker topped out at 29.76 meters to finish 21st.
Discus: Sanchez again threw in the discus, taking 14th place with a mark of 28.65 meters.
Javelin:
Alex Wilkinson threw a distance of 20.71 meters to place 15th.
Claire Robinson was 19th with a mark of 15.22 meters.
Long Jump:
Brooklyn Herbert jumped a distance of 4.80 meters to place seventh.
High Jump: Herbert was again in action, this time in the high jump, placing second with a mark of 1.52 meters. The height was an ever-so-slight improvement on her previous best and moves her into a tie for ninth all-time at Capital.
Pole Vault:
Claire Robinson won the event, clearing the bar at 3.55 meters which is a new personal best and improves her own standing in second all-time at Capital. The height falls just 0.01 meters off the current school record of 3.56 meters.
Alex Wilkinson placed sixth with a measure of 3.25 meters.

Capital will return to Ohio Wesleyan next Friday and Saturday, April 10th-11th for the 2026 All-Ohio Championships.
