WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University track and field team competed strongly into the late night hours of the Otterbein Twilight last night.
At the meet, Capital put forth some quality times across the board and event hit the program top-10 list in multiple categories.
Below is a summary of the night's accomplishments.
MEN
100-meter dash:
Cheik Souare was 21st in 10.98 seconds.
200-meter dash:
Neko Henry placed eighth in 22.13 seconds.
Mershaud Parker clocked in at 22.47 seconds. Demetre timed 22.77 seconds.
Leighton Kordack rounded it out with a time of 23.20 seconds.
400-meter dash:
Neko Henry placed 12th overall in a time of 49.67 seconds.
Trevor Estep clocked in at 56.78 seconds.
800-meter run:
Braydon Nix clocked a time of 2:00.42, followed by
Henry Taylor who finished in 2:07.07.
One Mile:
Ridwan Aliawl placed 17th in a time of 4:32.80.
5,000-meter run:
Kolin Brake led the way with a time of 15:14.68. That time was good enough to set him fifth all-time at Capital in the event.
Mikey Arnone was next in a time of 15:18.59 – a new personal best and sets him seventh all-time at Capital.
Zach Glotzbecker timed in at 15:33.51.
Aiden Mahony ran a time of 15:57.45, while
Dimetrius Floyd clocked in at 16:00.47.
Aaron McNutt ran a time of 16:37.95, followed by
Reef Murray (16:56.21) and
Jordan Hull (17:33.85).
4x100-meter relay: The foursome of
Mershaud Parker,
Cheik Souare,
Demetre Wheeler and
Leighton Kordack was seventh in 41.83 seconds – the fourth fastest time in school history.
4x400-meter relay: The quartet of Parker, Wheeler,
Chip Smith and
Neko Henry won the event in a time of 3:25.51.
Javelin:
Henry Taylor marked 38.20 meters in his best toss, while
Aiden Smith marked 24.75 meters on his best throw.
Shot Put:
Nolan Piper finished with a top throw of 13.21 meters.
Discus: Piper again finished with a solid throw in the discus, tossing 41.66 meters.
Hammer Throw: Piper highlighted his trio of throwing events in the hammer by registering a mark of 53.07 meters. The mark for Piper was a massive three-meter improvement on his previous best and improves his standing in second all-time at Capital. The mark is now under a meter of the school record of 53.96 meters.
WOMEN
100-meter dash:
Jaleea Harvey placed ninth in a time of 12.88 seconds.
Jersie Papacostas was 26th in 13.46 seconds.
100-meter hurdles:
Maria Da Cunha qualified fifth in the prelims, clocking a time of 15.31 seconds. In the finals, she placed sixth in 15.32 seconds.
200-meter dash:
Isabella Johnson placed 12th in 26.63 seconds.
Jaleea Harvey followed in 27.32 seconds.
400-meter dash:
Juli Sprague placed 21st in a time of 1:02.23.
Jaylin Bullock placed 34th in 1:12.56.
400-meter hurdles:
Maria Da Cunha placed second overall in a time of 1:05.03.
800-meter run:
Shelby Janes clocked a time of 2:29.62.
One Mile:
Jenavieve Vasquez placed 20th in a time of 5:54.96.
5,000-meter run:
Laney Tarr ran a time of 19:17.06 which is good enough to place her 10th all-time in the event at Capital.
4x100-meter relay: The quartet of
Isabella Johnson,
Juli Sprague,
Jaleea Harvey and
Jersie Papacostas placed third in 49.73 seconds.
4x400-meter relay: Capital placed second in the 4x4 with the quartet of
Maria Da Cunha,
Isabella Johnson,
Juli Sprague and
Shelby Janes running a time of 4:05.43.
Javelin:
Alex Wilkinson marked 22.03 meters in her best toss, while
Claire Robinson registered 17.95 meters in her best attempt.
High Jump:
Brooklyn Herbert placed sixth, clearing 1.52 meters.
Pole Vault:
Claire Robinson placed third with a top mark of 3.45 meters.
Alex Wilkinson was 12th with a measure of 3.10 meters.
Long Jump:
Jersie Papacostas placed 11th with a jump of 5.02 meters.
Brooklyn Herbert leaped 4.42 meters and
Larae Portis jumped 4.35 meters.
Triple Jump: Portis placed 11th with a leap of 9.38 meters.
Discus:
Mia Sanchez tossed a distance of 30.69 meters and right behind her was
Lillian Baker who tossed 30.04 meters.
Hammer Throw: Sanchez had a top throw of 37.15 meters, while Baker registered 28.85 meters for her best toss.
