Samaree Perkins Named CSC First Team Academic All-America

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Capital University women's basketball player Samaree Perkins has been selected by the College Sports Communicators as a First Team Academic All-America selection.

This award is one of the pinnacle awards for a student-athlete, recognizing not only strong athletic accomplishments but also excellence in academics and in the community. Perkins is one of just 15 Division III women's basketball players across the country selected to the CSC Academic All-America teams this season.

This is the first time Perkins has been recognized as an Academic All-America selection in her career and she is Capital's first Academic All-America honoree since Lexie Leggett earned the distinction in softball in 2023. Within the basketball program, Perkins is sixth in program history to earn Academic All-America honors and the first since Sara Heitkamp in 2006.

On the court during the 2025-26 season, Perkins was named an All-American from both WBCA and D3hoops.com, a WBCA Senior All-Star, the OAC Player of the Year, and All-OAC First Team for her efforts. That work saw her average 20.0 points per game and 12.0 rebounds per contest. In addition, Perkins crossed both the 1,500 career point and 1,000 career rebound milestones during her senior season.

Off the court, Perkins is a first year Law School student who completed her undergraduate career with a 4.00 GPA and currently boasts a 3.91 GPA after her first semester in law school. Throughout her academic career, she has earned several academic awards including Distinguished Senior Leader, Outstanding Senior Leader, Dean's List (Law School), and the recipient of three CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in law school. She has been named Academic All-Conference six times and CSC Academic All-District five times throughout her involvement in basketball and volleyball.

Off the court and away from her academics, Perkins is currently involved in Women Lawyers of Franklin County, Columbus Bar Association, and Black Law Students Association. During her undergraduate tenure, Perkins was also involved in the Chimes student newspaper, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Career Development, and Residential and Commuter Life.

Perkins' award brings the total of Academic All-America selections at Capital University to 49 unique individuals for a total of 57 selections.
