Jackson, Piper Earn Track & Field Athlete of the Week Honors

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - On Monday, Jan. 12, two members of the Capital University Track and Field team earned Ohio Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week Honors.  Freshman sprinter Kaylee Jackson and junior thrower Nolan Piper both took home the award for the first time in their careers.

A Capital student-athlete has now received this weekly recognition 14 times this academic year.

Both athletes participated in the Wilf Schnier Alumni Classic, which was hosted by Capital on Friday, Jan. 9.  Kaylee Jakson participated in the 60-meter dash, winning the event with a time of 7.97 seconds.  In just her second collegiate attempt in this event, the freshman now holds the third fastest time in school history.  The Whitehall native also was a part of both the 4x200-meter relay and the 4x400-meter relay, as Capital would win both events by at least 10 seconds.

Also competing in the Wilf Schnier Alumni Classic, Nolan Piper competed in both the weight throw and shot put events.  Piper would take home the win in the weight throw, with a toss of 16.29 meters.  The junior would finish off his strong day with a third place finish in the shot put, with a distance of 13.76 meters.

The Capital University Track and Field team will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Otterbein Invitational.
