Taylor Marcum Picks Up OAC Athlete of the Week Honors

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – As announced this past Monday afternoon by the Ohio Athletic Conference, Capital women's soccer player Taylor Marcum was selected as the OAC Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending on September 21st.

Marcum is the third Comet women's soccer player to earn a weekly honor this season and is the fifth OAC Athlete of the Week for the athletic department in the new season.

Marcum's award comes on the heels of helping the Comets to a 2-0 week last week with shutout victories over Ohio Wesleyan and previously unbeaten Kenyon. The pair of shutouts extended the Comets string to three consecutive shutouts and the team has now gone 303:19 of game time since last conceding a goal, dating back to the 57th minute of the Hope game on September 12th.

As if the defensive leadership wasn't enough for Marcum, the senior outside defender contributed heavily offensively last week as well, recording the assist on the game-winning goal vs. Ohio Wesleyan and scoring the game-winning goal vs. Kenyon.

The Capital women's soccer team will next be in action on Saturday, September 27th with a noon kickoff at nearby Denison.
