COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Capital University women's soccer team was back in action on Saturday, Nov. 1 for their regular season finale against Mount Union.  In a very closely contested match-up, the game would end in a 0-0 tie.  With the result, the Comets move to 9-5-3 overall and 4-2-2 in conference play.  Meanwhile, the Purple Raiders fall to 7-6-3 overall and 4-3-1 in conference.  
 
In their final career regular season game at Bernlohr Stadium, all nine Capital seniors would start in the game.  The first half of play would see both teams feeling each other out, with only seven shots being recorded and only three of those being on target.
 
The Comet offense would become the aggressor in the second half of play, outshooting the Purple Raiders 11-3.  Capital would have several great scoring chances, including a long distance free kick from Elise Buckerfield that nearly snuck in past the Mount Union goalkeeper.  Despite the opportunities, the game would remain scoreless throughout the half thanks to some stellar keeper play from the Purple Raiders.
 
Sarah Kelly would lead the Comets with three shots in the game.  Taylor Marcum and Ava Spirk would each finish with two.
 
Recording yet another shutout was Capital goalkeeper Liv Alford.  The senior made two great saves of her own to keep the Purple Raiders off the board.
 
UP NEXT
Capital has clinched the second seed in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) tournament.  They have earned a first round bye and will be back in action on Thursday, Nov. 6 when they will host a team that is to be determined.  They will face off against the team that has the second lowest seed remaining.
